Los Alamos -

0740 -
The local AM station KRSN bought an unused translator allocation from Santa Fe Community College, and installed an FM "translator" (it's actually a low power transmitter simulcasting the AM program material) last Thursday at the top of their AM antenna tower. Apparently there've been some complaints from people who used to listen to KNKT out of ABQ, which gave pretty good fringe reception locally.
The translator is all of 58 Watts. (Rodeo)

Decided to check out FM band on the way to work this morning, and heard this on a channel I know is normally empty. A couple of college kids playing some jazz and mentioning "WREK Atlanta" a couple of times. Signal full queiting for minutes at a time with the channel occasionally captured by some other UNID station playing classical music. WREK is a fabulous callsign for this station since it is the student run radio station at Georgia Tech. Lots of other stations from far away coming in too on other channels, but this was the only one I could ID this morning. 100 kW, ~1250 miles (Rodeo)
