Huayacocotla -
Late December 2004
1700 -
"Radio Huayacocotla" -- For several days in a row I was able to take the DX-398 out into the woods after work and hook up a 200 foot wire. This station came in pretty well till sign off at 6:00 pm MST. [Audio clip #1] has them giving full legal ID at 1700, including call letters, phone number, address, etc. [Audio clip #2] has them IDing as Radio Lacaxcajak (which is what they call themselves when broadcasting in the Tepehua language) at signoff time, followed by children singing the Mexican National Anthem - cute!. 500 Watts. Update -- According to this blog post, as of Feb 14, 2005, the station moved to FM and it's shortwave antenna has been dismantled.
